New River Trail

well-maintained, relaxing trail

Love the underpasses and option to choose either side of the wash in most places. Really beautiful!

New River Trail

unexpectedly good trail in Phoenix

January, 2025 by barbscondo

We parked at Rio Vista Community Park. Beautiful Park. Lots of people and parking. From the Park you can also access Skunk Creek Trail which we got on by accident for a few miles but then turned around and came back and got the New River Trail. We did the section on both sides of the river (dry! lol) but quite a few beautiful Palo Verde trees along the trail. Will go back and head further south from the park towards Sun City. Nice trail with no street crossing interruptions.

New River Trail

Really enjoyed this trail. Close to our resort and easy access. Not busy during the week. Well marked, going again today.

Take the right fork to continue onto Iron King Trail.

Prescott Peavine National Recreation Trail

disappointing trail conditions

February, 2024 by marthaallyn

After reading the reviews for this trail, we were surprised at the very lose gravel (?) and excessive mud. We were riding on a warm (mid-50s) day following a snowfall the week prior. The first 3.5 miles from the trailhead off of Prescott Lake parkway offered interesting views and geological features. The next 2 miles was in an area being developed for homes. Nothing special despite the signage talking about the loss of prairie habitat. We should have taken the left fork onto Iron King Trail.

Nice Trail

Nice safe trail to ride. No traffic to cross. Joins other trails.

New River Trail

Nice trail, good pavement, minimal shade

March, 2022 by stvatandem

My wife and I started our ride at the Fletcher Heights Trailhead at W Deer Valley Rd and rode south to where the trail crosses N Ball Park Rd (near the Grand Canal Trail) before turning back. The trail is well paved with concrete. There is no tree cover, but the overpasses do provide shade.

We just went on mile 8 and 9 of the trail, but plan to go back again to explore new parts of the trail!

New River Trail

New River Trail

Decent Paved Trail

June, 2021 by pete2288

Paved trail that parallels the 101 freeway. There is a park with bathrooms and one porta-potty along the trail. Was not too crowded when I rode it. I would ride it again

New River Trail

Love the beauty of the entire trail

May, 2021 by wadeweber1973

Wow....what a perfect trail for all age groups and abilities. On a Saturday morning in May, My fiancé and I had a great experience riding from the very north end of the trail on Happy Valley from our house in Terramar and rode all the way to have lunch at Westgate and then headed back home. There are a few interruptions of the trail close to Happy Valley Road but we still stuck to the path. We can’t wait to take the New River Trail again soon.

New River Trail

Great trail for getting mileage in, off road

April, 2021 by dmc6368

Took my road bike here and got a good 32 mile in. Nice underpasses to avoid crossing roads. Lots of sun. Next time I’ll start about 730am. Friendly riders and happy people along the route. ¿
